Julian Foley has been announced as a member of the newly formed Decommissioning Leadership Group (DLG) at the inaugural Decom North Sea Awards, organised by Decom North Sea in May and the group have now held their first meeting.

Julian who is the Waste Development Director and NORM Technical Authority at ASCO, was elected under the Onshore Dismantling and Waste Management category.

The aim of the DLG is to drive strategic direction and lead the development of an efficient and effective oil and gas decommissioning sector in the North Sea. One of the key actions from the first meeting was to initiate work groups in a number of areas to address topics of interest, and to create tangible deliverables to move the sector’s development forward.

Each DLG workgroup is anticipated to meet on a bi-monthly basis to move their assigned topic forward. The full DLG will meet at regular intervals to review progress to ensure it is aligned to the group’s overall strategy.

Julian Foley commented on his involvement with the DLG: "It's great to be involved in the DLG, my role is to help provide technical support and guidance for waste handling within the decommissioning sector. Key projects were identified at our first meeting in June and I am looking forward to getting stuck into the waste related project in the next couple of weeks."

Decom North Sea is the single topic, multi region membership organisation which connects capability with opportunity across the oil and gas decommissioning sector. It has grown since its inception in 2010 to more than 350 members drawn from operators, major contractors, service specialists and technology developers.
