Christopher Hoftun is currently working to lead the way in innovation for ASCO's business in Norway as Chief Digital Innovation Officer based in Tananger.

Starting out as a Petroleum Engineer then moving to Industrial Economics, Christopher has now been part of the Technology and Innovation team at ASCO for two years and is currently working on the digitalisation of the Tananger and Hammerfest bases.

The digitalisation project aims to streamline logistics throughout the terminal and improve loading and unloading operations using electronic data capture for increased planning, and at the same time reduce CO2 emissions by shorter stays for vessels at quays.

The purpose is to increase competitiveness, decrease manual errors and reduce the environmental footprint for time spent on loading and lifting operations. The expected effect is a considerable efficiency improvement of the terminal using digital solutions, improved predictability and priorities, reduced waiting time for vehicles by 80% and reduced waiting time for vessels at the quays by 20%.This project will also work on rebuilding our iLMS system from the start to ensure everything across the base is connected through a 'control tower' enabling us to get item level real-time material visibility from a single source. This will allow us to have a safer, controlled, lean and efficient material flow in a data and process driven environment.
