OPITO Rigger Initial Training

The aim and objectives of the OPITO Initial Training Programme are to provide the learner with knowledge of the rigging principles, general hazards and risks of rigging and lifting operations, an awareness of relevant legislation and regulation, and an opportunity to practice basic rigging operations following a lifting plan. Completion of the workplace experience logbook takes place on-site where personnel will complete workplace requirements under supervision.

Unit 1 – The role of the rigger and an introduction to lifting operations.
