Testing for COVID-19 for Key Workers with Symptoms (or Household Symptoms)

COVID-19

Dear all,

The NHS have announced that COVID-19 testing is now available for essential workers within the energy sector in Scotland and England who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19; for those self-isolating at home with symptoms; or for a symptomatic member of a keyworker's household. As ASCO has been identified as key workers, our frontline workers will have access to these testing facilities should they require them.

There is the option to have a home test kit or you can visit a regional test site for a drive through test, dependent on your needs.

If you wish to apply for you or someone in your household to be tested for the Coronavirus, please take the steps outlined on the Government website.

A testing station is now operating at Aberdeen Airport and there is a network of testing facilities across the country. This will allow people to attend a testing station close to their home and to continue to self-isolate while they wait for the results of the tests.

If your test result turns out to be negative, you can safely return to work, as long as:

• you are well enough

• you have not had a high temperature for 48 hours

• anyone you live with also tests negative

If your test result is positive, or someone you live with tests positive, you cannot return to work. You’ll need to continue to self-isolate.

If your condition gets worse, or you do not get better after 7 days, use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service. Only call 111 if you cannot get help online. For a medical emergency dial 999.

Please continue to use the COVID email address (zzRM-COVID-19@ascoworld.com) for any queries that you may have. You can also review all updates on our dedicated SharePoint page on Connect.

Kind regards,

The Task Force Team
