Saturday marked Global Recycling Day and we want to highlight our commitment to providing sustainable waste management options for our clients. Reuse and recycling are the preferred ways for end-of-life management as we aim to create a circular economy. In practice, a circular economy aims to reduce waste to a minimum, reducing our impact on the environment not only because it reduces the waste going to landfill, but also reduces the use of new raw materials.
At ASCO we believe in the importance of recycling, and we continue to ensure that we recycle as much as possible of the waste we receive and produce using the principles of the waste hierarchy.
In addition, ASCO’s Environmental team play a critical role in supporting customers in reducing and ultimately eliminating the quantity of waste going to landfill, with the goal of zero waste to landfill. All ASCO general waste that is not reused or recycled, is now diverted from landfill to Waste-to-Energy, which takes non-hazardous waste that would be otherwise destined for landfill and utilises it to generate electricity.
