Some members of the ASCO team from Aberdeen and Peterhead attended the 2019 Offshore Safety Awards this week as we were finalists in the Sharing and Learning category for our packaging standards handbook.

Driven by our obsession with Safety Excellence, the guide was created by Allan Scott and Irina Sapunkova in collaboration with the Oil & Gas UK Efficiency Taskforce to support an industry standard for packaging. The guide covers the basics of packaging and specifies the requirements for the oil and gas industry to reduce delays, costs and most importantly improve the safety of employees.

The awards were held at the new P&J Live exhibition centre in Aberdeen and hosted a number of different categories with the Sharing and Learning category focusing on an individual/team or company that demonstrates a learning and sharing culture either within the organisation, or who has made a significant contribution to health and safety through active participation in, or engagement with Oil & Gas UK or Step Change in Safety.

The nomination process included a form, questionnaire and a homemade-style video talking about the benefits of our creation. Although we didn't win the award, we are extremely grateful to have gotten through to the final gaining more exposure for our packaging standards.
