Overview
This intensive two-day course provides delegates with a practical and theoretical introduction to subsea and marine rigging and lift planning.
The programme combines classroom instruction, interactive discussions and hands-on exercises to build understanding of subsea and marine lifting operations in line with industry best practice and international standards.
Delegates will develop a strong foundation in rigging principles, risk assessment, lift planning and the safe use of lifting equipment.

- Introduction, safety briefing, and course objectives
- Regulations, standards, and industry best practice
- Roles, responsibilities, and competency in subsea lifting
- Risk assessment, lift categorisation, and supervision
- Lift planning considerations (eg Centre of gravity/buoyancy), vessel movement, obstacles)
- Lifting equipment principles and pre-use inspections
- Winches, cranes, and crane load charts (with practical demonstrations)
- Heave compensation and specialist lifting operations
- Case studies and lessons learned from industry incidents
- Practical assignment: team lift-planning exercise
- Pre-use inspection bench talk and rigging demonstration
- Group presentations, debrief, and written assessment
