Banksman Slinger Training Course

Delegate Pre- Requisites

Delegates attending this training course should have at least 5 years experience in lifting operations and possess the following abilities:

  • Motivation and confidence for public speaking
  • Good attitude toward others
  • Ability to communicate with others
  • Literate, numerate and fluent in English


Delegates should have successfully completed the Mechanical Lifting Level 1 online test within QUEST and be knowledgeable in the following subjects:

  • Country Specific Legislation / Regulations
  • Safe Systems of Work
  • Industry Guidelines and Company Procedures for Lifting Operations
  • Crane Operations
  • Rigging and Lifting Operations (Use of Portable Lifting Equipment)
  • Management / Supervision of Personnel
  • Assessment Techniques and Protocols
  • Basic Knowledge of Geometry, Mathematics and Chart Reading

LOCATION: Course usually delivered at the Clients’ premises


COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A classroom with a suitable amount of desks and chairs
  • Overhead projector or similar
  • Dry wipe board or similar
  • Pens and note pads
  • Practical area to carry out crane inspections and lifting operations using a mobile crane
  • Certified mobile crane (normally required on 2nd and 3rd day afternoons)
  • Various slings and shackles for inspection and for lifting operations
  • Various loads for lifting operations i.e. containers, baskets, units, etc
  • Instructor access to a suitable photocopier (for printing of course notes, etc)
