Personnel, cargo and vessel rotations coordinated for Aker BP Walk to Work campaign
ASCO played a central role in Aker BP’s Walk to Work campaign, delivering integrated support across logistics, warehousing, transport and personnel coordination.
The Walk to Work model uses specialist vessels equipped with motion-compensated gangway technology, allowing personnel to access offshore installations by vessel rather than helicopter. This approach is ideal for unmanned installations without accommodation, office, or catering facilities.
The solution supported reduced helicopter traffic, greater flexibility in personnel mobilisation, and increased capacity at high-activity fields.

Approach
ASCO delivered a coordinated service model to support the safe and efficient movement of personnel, supplies, and cargo.
Personnel checked in at Sola Heliport before being transferred by bus to ASCO Tananger, where they boarded the Walk to Work vessel. ASCO’s Aviation division had dedicated personnel assigned to the operation, helping ensure smooth coordination across the full personnel journey.
Every 14 days, the vessel returned to ASCO Tananger for the rotation of industrial personnel. The maritime crew rotated every 28 days. During these vessel calls, ASCO also handled supplies, provisions, and other cargo required to maintain continued offshore operations.
Impact
The campaign demonstrated ASCO’s ability to combine logistics, warehousing, transportation, aviation support and personnel management into one integrated service offering.
By managing the flow of people, equipment and supplies through a single coordinated operation, ASCO helped support a campaign that placed high demands on safety, planning, efficiency and operational control.
