Reporting to the General Manager – Ship Agency & Global Freight Forwarding, this role is responsible for driving business growth across ASCO's Global Freight Forwarding division by identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities within Project Logistics, Specialized Freight, Global Freight Forwarding and Transport. Working closely with commercial and operational teams, you will build long-term customer relationships, develop tailored logistics solutions and support the delivery of ASCO's UK growth strategy. Duties include:

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across the UK logistics market.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Promote ASCO's capabilities across Project Logistics, Specialized Freight, Global Freight Forwarding and Transport.
  • Grow existing customer accounts by identifying additional commercial opportunities.
  • Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline using the company's CRM system.
  • Prepare commercial proposals, quotations and support tender submissions.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to develop practical and commercially competitive logistics solutions.
  • Represent ASCO at customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
  • Deliver agreed revenue, profitability and business growth targets.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of ASCO's commercial strategy.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote LEAN principles across the business.

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)

  • Proven business development experience within Global Freight Forwarding, Project Logistics or Specialist Transport.
  • Demonstrable track record of winning profitable new business and developing key customer accounts.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • Good understanding of international freight forwarding, logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Ability to develop long-term customer partnerships and identify growth opportunities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with wider teams.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities.
  • Competent in the use of CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Qualifications/Competencies

  • Experience within Project Logistics or Specialized Freight.
  • Knowledge of Heavy Lift and Out-of-Gauge cargo movements.
  • Experience supporting customers within Offshore Energy, Renewables, Defence or Industrial sectors.
  • Established commercial network within the UK logistics or freight forwarding industry.
  • Understanding of international freight movements, customs processes and global supply chains.
  • Experience preparing commercial tenders and customer proposals.
