Customer Challenge
Fairfield Energy had a requirement for five experienced Materials Controllers to clear
the stores on their Dunlin Alpha platform in the North Sea to take place over the festive
period.
Scope of Work
Fairfield Energy’s objective was to rationalise all stores materials on the Dunlin Alpha platform as part of their decommissioning scope. Critical spares were identified by platform technical personnel and moved to another location, while non-critical spares were to shipped to ASCO’s South Base in Peterhead to be further rationalised onshore.
ASCO Solution
The ASCO team coordinated the personnel requirement through their recruitment division, OBM. The initial requirement was for two offshore Material Controllers over a two-week period with the scope increasing to five offshore Material Controllers as the demobilisation date grew closer. OBM quickly fulfilled the urgent requests from Fairfield Energy which came during the festive season. The Material Controllers ensured critical spares were identifi ed, manifested and moved to the client’s alternative offshore location and non-critical spares were manifested, packed safely and sent back to ASCO’s South Base in Peterhead.
Project Results
The project was completed on time, on budget and with no incidents. The client has since increased the scope for
the Materials Controllers to return for a second rotation with plans for a third rotation thereafter. To assist with the
increased volumes of backload, the client also requested an additional work scope of onshore Materials Controllers to
coordinate the return of materials to ASCO’s South Base in Peterhead.
