The first quay in the new ASCO supply base in Leirvika, Hammerfest will be completed in May 2020.
The Leirvika base is an extension of current operations in Fugleneset, Hammerfest. The Fugleneset site was established as an operational oil and gas supply base in 2016 and works to support drilling operations in the Barents Sea.
Adding this extension will allow us to add a multipurpose area for port activities and terminal services to our current service offering.
The base will be inclusive of 5,000m² warehousing space, 75,000m² of external storage, bulk facilities for drilling fluid, waste handling, shore power for vessels, two quaysides, 1x80m, and 1x60m with 12-16m depth, as well as the capability for water and MGO deliveries.
Hammerfest's Base Manager, Tom Eirik Lysmen Jakobsen, said: "It's starting to take off in Leirviaka, we are planning to move in as soon as possible. We are on track and if everything goes according to plan, we can move in as early as May. The relocation of ASCO Hammerfest will be carefully planned with our clients and their schedule activity at the forefront."
Currently, the infrastructure is in place at the base and the water and electricity are laid in the ground and ready for operation.
"The main parts of the project are now complete; we are currently awaiting the asphalt for the quays to go in place and move the equipment over" says Tom.
Tanks will be set up and new office facilities will also be built. The entire Leirviaka area, including both quays are estimated to be operational by August 2020.
