ASCO Norway has been granted NOK 25 million in public grants for a digitization project that will increase efficiency in Tananger through electronic data capture.
The main goal of the project is to reduce waiting time spent on both trucks and vessels. This will be done by streamlining logistics and improving loading and unloading operations through electronic data capture for increased planning at the Tananger base.
These changes will provide concrete environmental benefits and will also increase significantly efficiency by reducing the time spent on the truck base and lay time for ships in the port. The time savings for the project are estimated at 80% per truck and 20% per ships in port.
The grant is based on a comprehensive application from the base company which has been distributed by the Norwegian Coastal Administration in accordance with the 'Guidelines for grants for investment in efficient and environmentally friendly ports'.
ASCO's International Managing Director, Runar Hatletvedt said, "We are very proud to have received this significant grant, it's a great moment for ASCO Norway. Innovation and digitalisation are important to us and with this project we are taking a big step further."
The project is planned to be live in Tananger by summer 2020.
