Dear all,
With increasing numbers of cases of the new Omicron COVID-19 variant being detected across the country, this has led to both the UK and Scottish Governments making changes to restrictions.
- Facemasks
Facemasks are now compulsory in the whole of the UK rather than just Scotland to help control the risk. We at ASCO continue to be vigilant regarding this with the aim to keep our teams safe at work, not wearing a facemask around any indoor ASCO facility is a breach of our risk controls. Read more on the BBC website here.
- International travel restrictions
You are now required to complete a PCR test on arrival back into the UK and self-isolate until you receive your results. The previously dormant red list has also been updated which applies to arrivals from 10 South African countries.
We strongly encourage you to take a lateral flow test each week if you are coming into the workplace, whether that be office-based or operational, to reduce your chance of catching/spreading COVID-19. Details to order lateral flow tests online are available here, and ensure to follow government guidance if you test positive.
We also strongly encourage you to get your COVID-19 vaccination booster if you have not done so already, this will help extend the protection you gained from your first two doses and give you longer term protection. Learn more and book your appointment on the NHS website here.
Outside of the workplace it is just as important to follow all hygiene measures in place and pay attention to local government guidance.
