Hours of Work: 9 day fortnight - week one 0730 - 1620 Mon - Thursday, week two 0730 - 1620 Mon - Friday.
As our successful candidate you will oversee the effective running of site operations at our waste transfer station in Great Yarmouth. Through your experience and excellent people management skills you will lead site personnel to deliver the highest quality service through the safest, most cost-effective methods. Reporting to the Waste Transfer Station Manager, key responsibilities of the role are to:
- Maintain a positive, consistent safety culture across all activities at the ASCO Waste/NORM site. Ensure the Waste Transfer Station operates within all relevant permits and planning conditions, including waste acceptance capacity limits.
- Manage all waste inputs and outputs via the WaMS system in line with client contractual obligations.
- Ensure all wastes are accepted and stored in line with site procedures, permits and relevant guidance (i.e. HSG71).
- Apply commercial awareness to support informed waste management decisions.
- Identify and resolve issues affecting operational productivity.
- Report all incidents and accidents in accordance with ASCO procedures and conduct initial investigations where required.
- Ensure risk assessments for all operational activities comply with HSE guidelines, approved codes of practice and legislative requirements.
- Manage ASCO's permit to work system to support safe execution of work across the site.
- Take overall responsibility for on-site plant, ensuring checks are completed and repairs actioned promptly.
- Supervise and provide feedback to employees to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure all personnel on site comply with site, company and health and safety rules.
- Assume managerial responsibilities during periods of absence.
Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)
- Maintains positive work relationships and can communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of waste process and site permits and other waste legislation.
- Computer literate including MS office suite of applications.
- Ability to work under pressure.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree/HNC/HND in chemistry
- COTC in hazardous waste (or must be wiling to complete as required for the role)
- Dangerous goods consignee
- RPS (Radioactive Supervisor)
Desirable Qualifications/Competencies
- IOSH Managing Safely
- Current Forklift License
- Supervisory experience
