Peterhead

Our wholly-owned and ASCO built Peterhead supply base opened in 1974 to support the burgeoning offshore market in the North Sea. Now in its fifth decade of operation, it continues to be the world's busiest private offshore support facility, handling in the region of 460,000 tonnes of deck cargo and 450,000 tonnes of fuel/water each year across 2,050 vessel turnarounds. We continue to invest in the capacity and capability of the base to meet the changing needs of our customers.

Peterhead is the most Easterly point in mainland Scotland and is strategically located close to North Sea offshore assets. Our current investment in Peterhead is supporting our objective of creating the world's most efficient offshore supply base.

Services

Our 20-acre Peterhead site provides mixed laydown, warehousing and office accommodation in addition to 14 berths. We offer a comprehensive one-stop shop including cargo, liquid/dry bulk storage and supply, Marine Gas Oil, materials management and operations coordination.

We can deliver vessel requirements from one berth, eliminating the need for berth movements and reducing vessel turnaround times. Our investment in systems and technology is transforming how we operate, providing operational transparency and efficiencies for our customers.

Peterhead redevelopment

We recently revitalised our South Base operation in Peterhead through a significant seven-figure investment in infrastructure and the digitalisation of key processes with the aim of creating ‘the most efficient supply base in the industry’.

The most significant physical alterations were made to improve infrastructure, including implementation of a new traffic management system, concreting an additional 60,000 sq. ft of yard space and relocating a mud and water treatment plant. A new one-way system will optimise material flow and create a separate entrance at the base; speeding up departure times by easing congestion at the quayside and enhancing safety and security for staff and visitors, ultimately creating a more efficient customer experience.

Damhead waste transfer station

Damhead Waste Transfer and Treatment centre in Peterhead has been an integral part of our waste business since 1998. Covering a total site area of 15,000m2, the Damhead site services inputs from across our Northern North Sea customer base.

The site handles over 650 cargo carrying units each week and can process over 5,000 different waste products from hazardous and non-hazardous waste, oil based mud slops to general waste. The waste is either treated on site or packed into bulk and transferred to one of our 200+ approved partners for onward disposal or recycling or reuse.

Our specialist Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) allows us to treat oily water (slops) at a rate of 7m3 per hour. The system can hold around 850m3 at one time and uses flocculation to separate slops into its constituent parts of oil and water.

The site is fully compliant with all SEPA legislation and has had a SEPA rating of 'Excellent' for over eight years.
