ASCO starts life

The late Jimmy Simpson starts Aberdeen Service Company (North Sea) Limited at the commencement of exploration for oil in the North Sea after a chance meeting with a Texan looking for a warehouse in Aberdeen.

ASCO opens flagship supply base in Peterhead

ASCO's flagship supply base in Peterhead is formally opened by William Ross, the then Secretary of State for Scotland on July 12th. This represents a massive step forward for ASCO, the town of Peterhead and the North Sea oil and gas industry.

The base in Peterhead remains the largest supply base in the world to this day.

ASCO open corporate HQ

ASCO open corporate HQ at Regent Centre in Aberdeen on site of original No 5 bonded warehouse where the company started in 1967.

Staying true to our roots, ASCO's corporate HQ is still based in Aberdeen, having moved to Dyce for a bigger facility.

ASCO open in Great Yarmouth

Great Yarmouth offshore supply base opens, developed to support the burgeoning Southern North Sea offshore industry.

BP outsource logistics to ASCO

BP outsources its logistics operations to ASCO, at this time operating out of the port of Dundee.

ASCO are still supporting BP worldwide, with BP being a key player in their international growth across the last 29 years.

BP relocates logistics operations to Peterhead

BP relocates entire logistics operation to ASCO Offshore Supply Base in Peterhead (this is later relocated again to Aberdeen). ASCO is also awarded Conoco (UK) integrated logistics contract.

ASCO moves into Norway

ASCO establishes in Norway with the opening of its Tananger supply base, which still remains one of the busiest supply bases in Norway.

The Tananger base was the first of five ASCO bases along the coast of Norway.

ASCO expand into Canada

ASCO crosses the Atlantic for the first time and expands outwith the North Sea with the incorporation of ASCO Canada.

ASCO Canada started as a joint venture between ASCO and the Crosby Group, however it is now a wholly owned business and provides materials management warehousing.

ASCO open in Trinidad and Tobago

ASCO ramp up international growth by moving into Trinidad and Tobago operating with BP in the Galeota Port.

The site currently supports exploration and production activities regionally.

ASCO acquires Seletar

ASCO buy UK based ship agency, Seletar Shipping.

DH Private Equity Partners acquire ASCO

ASCO was acquired by Doughty Hanson (now DH) Private Equity Partners.

ASCO add to brand portfolio

ASCO acquires Manatokan and NSL.

Manatokan Oilfield Services Inc is based in Conklin and La Corey, Albera in Canada and have a wide range of equipment for your oilfield requirements.

NSL is based in Dyce, Aberdeen and in Houston, Texas and provides technical expertise and training to the lifting industry.

Australian expansion

ASCO begin a £68 million project to build a supply base in Darwin, Australia which includes; Darwin Onshore Supply Base, Darwin Supply Base, Darwin Marine Supply Base and a camp services operation near Wadeye.

Shell contract award in Australia

ASCO win contract to operate Shell facility in Australia to support Prelude FLNG project, the worlds largest floating liquefied natural gas platform.

ASCO turns 50

ASCO celebrates its 50th anniversary.

ASCO appoints new CEO

ASCO appoints Peter France as Chief Executive Officer.

Zander Topco Ltd acquire ASCO

Following the acquisition, ASCO will continue to operate as normal, with no change to existing operations. Our organisational structure remains the same, and the existing management team will continue to lead ASCO.

ASCO sets up in Senegal

ASCO enters Senegal to assist SSB in the design and operation of a supply base at the Port of Dakar, providing offshore logistics to support the Sangomar oil and gas drilling campaign.

ASCO supports operations in Suriname

ASCO establishes operations in Suriname at the Kuldipsingh Port Facility to provide technical expertise for supply base operations in support of offshore oil and gas activities in the region.

ASCO appoints new CEO

ASCO appoints Mike Pettigrew as Chief Executive Officer.
